Roni Size & Reprazent “Brown Paper Bag”

Lets take a trip down memory lane, who remembers the first time they heard “Brown Paper Bag”?

Its nearly twenty years old and it still sounds as fresh in 2016 as it did all the way back in 1997.

Taken from the Mercury winning “New Forms” album from the Roni Size founded Reprazent crew. This is one track that for me, helped shape a whole generation.

Its hard to believe that so much time has past since this track dropped and the way it has somehow managed to sound so timeless still. Whether the Reprazent crew had that in mind all those years ago or not, the test of time has been past here. A fusion of genres this was the sound of Bristol Town that tore across the world and helped define a whole generation. That classic baseline, sharp drums, trip hop samples and Dynamite MC as our host. As far as pitch perfect moments in music go this is an all time classic!

Listening to this track is like stepping into a time machine, what memories does it conjure for you? For me this brings back memories of riding BMX bikes, Skateboarding and falling in love with HipHop and D&B as a kid growing up on the streets of Glastonbury and Bristol. This was on constant repeat on my headphones as well as being pulled up at all the house parties and illegal raves at the time.

Take a trip down memory lane and press play on one of the greatest D&B records ever made.
