Marcello Spooks drops a refreshing, left field offering with his latest single ‘Boom’.
Marcello Spooks comes with a refreshing, left field offering on his latest track ‘Boom’. Premiered by Sian Anderson on BBC 1Xtra then followed up with the video premiering on GRM Daily yesterday. As far as media promotion goes thats a gold plated Rolls Royce with all the extras.
Now down to business, the track, is it any good? Quite simply YES, OH YES! The production is a real fusion of sounds that are different yet refreshing all complimented by a lyrical arsenal from Spooks.
“I wanted to use some sounds reminiscent of the Eskimo era, so once RVPH put down that wavy ringing sample, I took the skeleton of the beat to Lewi White, who worked his magic. I think it pushes the boundaries of grime in terms of depth and progression.”
Marcello Spooks says it all, the production really is early Eskimo era meets 016 grime. Spooks could be well ahead of his time here and could be setting a new trend with this style of production. Only time will tell though, but he is truly pushing the limits and i love it.
Lyrically all the bases are covered here, riding this with style and finesse. Spooks is an effortless MC who switches his styles up where necessary over this 3 minute offering. All in all a quality forward thinking track from Spooks.
Look out for the Energy Is Everything project coming soon:
