Bassboy – Badboy EP.

Bassboy leads the charge with a  brand new EP.

As the creator of some of Basslines most monumental records in history, Bassboy comes crashing into 2017 with the release of his ‘Badboy’ E.P and DJ Target grabbed the premiere of the Frisco sampled lead track on 1Xtra last week.

Taking on the name of the E.P, the lead single, ‘Badboy’, opens with a retro UKG synth and siren alongside the unmistakable chopped and screwed tones of Boy Better Know’s Frisco, allowing the heavy drop to creep up on you as the dirty, warping bassline kicks in.

Consisting of three records, the ‘Badboy’ E.P showcases Bassboy’s exploration of bassline music, while experimenting with different genres, including UKG and Grime; an area the Birmingham based producer and DJ is well seasoned in having worked alongside the likes of Trilla, Kozzie, Autumn Rowe and Mercury Award winner Skepta. His heavy basslines and infectious, off-kilter drum grooves, have not only seen him play at the most prestigious of clubs and festivals but have also awarded him with being able to create his very own festival, ‘BassFest’ which is set to debut in Manchester, Birmingham and Amsterdam this Summer.

From the contrast between the sweet female vocal of Aria and the dark and sinister beat on ‘Loyalty’, through to the computer game synths and energetic, Brum tinged bars from Pz Da Architect on the grime inspired ‘Move, the Badboy E.P is a weighty, unadulterated Bassline offering that sees Bassboy make a welcomed return for 2017.
