$kins – Practise

$kins drops visuals for the subliminal – Practise.

One MC who has been firmly on my radar for the longest of times is $kins formally L-Skins. A man with such a laid back effortless flow you would think he rapped laying down.

When it comes to the art of rapping, flow, delivery and the voice will always come above lyrical content for most people. Before anyone sends for me look at the likes of powerhouses like Rick Ross and countless others that we won’t mention. Poor lyrical content but they have an epic flow and delivery.

That said $kins does have lyrical depth that would shame half the top 10 platinum selling MCs out there. But he also has this amazing flow, delivery and a voice that just makes you want to listen to him. By all rights he could be talking about what he had for dinner last night and how he has just woken up and is making a cup of tea and i would be hooked.

His latest track Practise is a subliminally beautiful masterpiece with a surreal production that matches his effortless flow.

Punch lines like: ‘No That I’m Peter Pan Fly’

Scattered through this track show his effortless wordplay in full effect. When it comes to rapping $kins is quite simply the perfect embodiment of everything you need to kill it. An epic voice, delivery thats more on point than Parcel Force, flow that you can loose yourself in and last but not least lyrical content that hits all the right buttons.

Everything from Soul, Jazz, Classical, Rock, Pop you name it, it was on the stereo when I was growing up. I got into HipHop in 93/94 and the rest as they say is history! From a long haired skateboard kid growing up in Glastonbury, via Edinburgh for a few years. Now making moves in London for the last ten years and counting. My journey has been fuelled by music. I have been DJ'ing for the best part of ten years, starting of as a DMC battle DJ after smashing my way through the Scottish DMC finals, through to the London DMC finals. I turned my hand to mix cds, then radio, as well as tearing up dance floors from Edinburgh to London town then back again. Sharing the stage with everyone from Trevor Nelson to Cutmaster Swift along the way. I have passed my knowledge and skills on as a DJ tutor and I was the scratch DJ for Sky Sports, for their weekly football show "Premier League Preview". My blog here is to keep you up to date with the latest news from the urban world, reviews, write ups, features. As well as positive, mindful blogs, tell a friend to tell a friend.
